In 1965 Tuckman identified the “necessary and inevitable” transitions that all teams go through when facing new challenges or changes in team structures & membership – Forming, Norming, Storming, Performing, Adjourning. Teams that do not explicitly work together on trust, purpose, expectations & structure often get stuck in storming and underperform, sometimes for years. The speed of change that teams face in the 21st Century has accentuated the need for leaders and teams to master the processes that support these transitions. This is best learnt from within the in-situ team experience.

Over the last 20 years, our understanding of change, and it’s impact on our thinking and behaviour has grown as complexity and uncertainty has developed exponentially across the world. The “change curve” has now become a “change wave”, with leaders often managing multiple waves at any one time. Learning to lead change is best done on the job, applying new insights & models in the real world in real time supported by colleagues.

Courage2Lead offers Leadership Team Journeys for Leadership Teams to progress quickly and effectively though Team transitions to high performance, and to learn how to lead their own teams to do the same.

A series of off-site workshops are combined with one2one coaching and on-site observation and feedback to grow awareness, insight, courage & impact in the context of the real business challenges. The advantage is that the team can explore leadership together over a 6-18 month timeframe, enabling trust, co-coaching & applied learning to build over time and ensuring leadership impact in the business in real time. The team will become self-sustaining to continue the collective reflection & learning along their journey and, simultaneously team members will develop their own leadership awareness and capabilities to take forward to their next roles.
